Sending cargo with Air Tahiti

The cost of sending your cargo is calculated by multiplying the total chargeable weight* of your goods by the rate per kilogram, which varies according to your destination, the weight of your cargo and the type of dispatch requested.

* Total chargeable weight is the total weight of your goods, rounded down for weights of between X.1 and X.4 kg, and rounded up for weights of between X.5 and X.9 kg.
e.g. If your goods weigh 12.4 kg, the total chargeable weight will be 12 kg. If your goods weigh 5.5 kg, the total chargeable weight will be 6 kg.

Discounted rates are offered above 10 kg (22 lb). The heavier your cargo, the lower the rate per kg. This means you can get up to a 25% discount on your cargo price.

Air Tahiti offers you two ways of sending your goods:

Standard cargo:

Your goods will be sent on the first flight with available cargo capacity, within a deadline that will be stated on your air waybill (AWB).

In the event of damage or delay, the airline's liability is limited to XPF 2,200 per item, unless you have made a special declaration of interest in delivery at destination.

The damage or delay must be reported at the destination airport, before the goods are collected and taken away with you.

Premium cargo:

If you want your goods to travel on a specific flight or date, you will need to make a "Premium cargo" booking and will be charged accordingly.

The nature of some cargo means booking is required for transport by air. This applies to:

  • live animals,
  • firearms,
  • valuable items.

In the event of damage, the airline's liability is limited to XPF 2,200 per item, unless you have made a special declaration of interest in delivery at destination.

In the event of a delay, you will be refunded the premium cargo surcharge, i.e. XPF 150/kg.

The damage or delay must be reported at the destination airport, before the goods are collected and taken away with you.

In the event of a freight-forwarding delay, the premium cargo surcharge you paid will be refunded to you.
