The atoll of Hao, known as "Bow Island" or "Harp Island", is in the Tuamotu Archipelago, 920 km east of Tahiti. Its lagoon, one of the biggest in Polynesia, stretches 55 km northwest to southeast, covering an area of 892 km² - an underwater domain where divers can explore treasures unknown on dry land! The lagoon has a single passage to the ocean, Passe Kaki.

Hao airport is some distance from the main village of Otepa.
The local council offers a shuttle service to and from the village provided you book in advance by calling the town hall (mairie) the day before your arrival or departure. The fare is payable when boarding the boat.
