Delayed Baggage

Air Tahiti endeavours to deliver your baggage upon your arrival. However, delays in transport or delivery can occur. If the arrival of your baggage has been delayed, we are sincerely sorry and we will do everything to ensure your baggage is forwarded to you as quickly as possible.

  • If, upon arrival, your baggage is not returned to you, please contact an Air Tahiti agent immediately, with your boarding card and baggage receipt at the ready.
  • They will complete a "Baggage Irregularity Report" with you. This report is a description of your baggage and will help us locate it at one of our other airport stops, so please provide us with as much information as possible (colour, size, brand, distinguishing marks, etc.).
  • As soon as it is located, you will be notified by telephone or email. Your baggage will be sent on our next flight and handed to you personally, at the airport or re-routed to your country if you have already left our territory.

Lost or forgotten baggage

Your baggage has not be found

● If your baggage is not located within 7 days of your flight, it will be declared lost.
● The "Baggage Irregularity Report" is then forwarded to our compensation department, which will determine the possible amount of compensation payable, based on the details you provided in the report and in accordance with the Warsaw Convention, to which Air Tahiti is subject.
● The compensation amount is based on the weight and not the contents of the baggage.

You forgot your baggage

● Forgotten baggage will be stored for 3 months at the airport.
● Beyond that, they will be donated to charities.

Damaged baggage

During its transport, your baggage is handled numerous times. In addition, because the aircraft in our fleet do not allow the baggage to be containerised, it is in constant contact with other baggage. As a result, despite the precautions taken by Air Tahiti, your baggage can get damaged. We are sorry if your baggage has been damaged.

  • If, upon arrival, you realise your baggage has been damaged, please contact an Air Tahiti agent immediately, with your boarding card and baggage receipt at the ready.
  • They will complete a "Baggage Irregularity Report" with you. This report describes the damage to your baggage and will help us to determine how much, if any, compensation is payable. Please provide us with the following information: the date of purchase and cost of your baggage, and the nature of the damage.
  • The "Baggage Irregularity Report" is then forwarded to our compensation department, which will determine the possible amount of compensation payable, based on the details provided in the report and in accordance with the Warsaw Convention, to which Air Tahiti is subject.
  • The compensation amount is based on the weight and not the contents of the baggage.
  • If you leave the airport without notifying us of the damage, you have a time limit of 3 days following your flight to complete your declaration with one of our agents.
  • Air Tahiti cannot be held liable for scratches and bumps on baggage resulting from a baggage normal use.
