You need to travel in the company of a service animal, due to a physical, psychological or emotional handicap? Here is the necessary information concerning the conditions of transport.
Air Tahiti allows your service animal to travel with you in the cabin, regardless of its size or weight.
The in-cabin transport of service animals is permitted on ATR flights and is free of charge. For flights operated by our Twin Otter or Beechcraft, please refer to our conditions of transport for animals in the hold.
In order to travel with your service animal, you must provide the following supporting documents:
- A medical certificate stipulating your need to travel with a service animal
- Official documents (certificate, identity card,…) attesting that your animal is a trained service animal.
These documents may be requested at any moment during your journey.

When reserving, indicate that you will be travelling with a service animal and give details of your handicap. This helps us to provide you with appropriate support throughout your journey, as well as the reservation of an adjoining seat, at the foot of which your animal will be placed, at no extra cost.
The number of animals that can be transported in the cabin is limited, so we suggest that you inform us of their presence at the earliest possible moment.
You benefit from the usual carry-on and checked baggage allowances attributed to your seat.
The reservation of an adjoining seat for your service animal does not entitle you to a supplementary baggage allowance.
Please present your service animal at the counter during your check-in, with the appropriate supporting documentation, as described above.
If you are unable to provide these documents, your animal cannot be considered to be a service animal and will be transported subject to the different conditions for accepting and transporting animals either in the cabin or the hold.
Boarding / Disembarking
When travelling with your animal you benefit from pre-boarding, so you can install yourself comfortably in your seat, prior to the boarding of other passengers. We also invite you to present yourself at the boarding gate before the other passengers.
Upon arrival, we recommend you to get off the plane after all passengers in order to facilitate your disembarking.
Your service animal can travel without a muzzle or transporter.
But should be kept on a leash at all times, and placed at the foot of your adjoining seat, so as not to obstruct the aisle. The animal must stay on the floor and must not occupy the seat.
The animals' behavior should be beyond reproach at all times.
Additionally, please ensure that you take the necessary previsions concerning your animal's hygiene (most notably anticipating its need to do its business).
